  • strange T. Blondi moult.

I had a T. Blondi AF moult 4 weeks ago, she came out perfect, with no problems. She's been resting, as they do, so I tried her a couple of days ago, with food. She's still lethargic and unwilling to move around much, she held a roach under her leg but she let it go. I then discovered that her fangs are still red, like a fresh moult, not seen this before . She's on a damp patch with heat, which she's taken to.

    Any ideas welcome.

Hello Linda. My own T stirmi takes more than four weeks to recover from a molt. It's more like two months or something... What is weird is the red fangs. Are you sure the fangs are still red/white? Don't you mistake that with the surrounding of the mouth? Is it possible to take a picture? As far as I know, you don't have any other options than wait.

Hi Nicolas, I'm very sad to say that she died two hours ago. She looks perfect, abdomen firm, just the red fangs. I've kept these lovely T's for some years now, and never had anything like this. She was 10 years old, but in first class condition. They are one of the more difficult T's to keep, but had it been a wet moult, or she hadn't have been able to get out, then I could have understood it. I've got another big female in pre moult, and she's older, so I'm keeping a very close eye on her, and fingers crossed.

Many thanks Nicolas for your reply.

Sorry for your loss, Linda. I hope everything will be fine with your other big female.

Maybe someone you knows better about medical issues on this forum will be able to give you an explanation.
