Just a quick intoduction as requested. I don't own any tarantulas (unless you count one currently in my hospital) - I'm a vet with an interest in inverts (I only do exotic animals) and joining to try to keep up to date about the husbandry side. Mainly keep herps myself, though I have reared a salmon pink in the past.
hi all, im a new member of the BTS and new to this forum too. i have been into spiders since i was very young, and only started keeping T's for about a year. It happened by chance when i entered the local exotic pet shop and saw there tarantulas, which reconected me to my love for spiders, needless to say i left that day with a B. smithi and now my collection is as follows;
the next on my list is a lasiodora parahybana which i will be getting soon and a poecilotheria metallica which i will hopefully have soon.
''The very general opinion that the tarantula ''looks so horrible'' is obviously without any basis. To anyone who has learned to know this spider, it is as handsome as a goldfinch and fully as interesting.'' William J. Baerg. 1885-1980.
This is my first post, I've only just got into keeping T's. At the moment I only have one spiderling, a Euathlus sp. "Red" but about to get a semi mature G. aureostriata. I hope that you agree that these will make good choices for an inexperienced keeper. The other things I’m into are keeping carnivorous plants and distance running. I’m looking forward to talking to you and gaining knowledge.
