Hi Potential new member to this forum
There has been over the last few years, months and weeks a good deal of new people joining this forum. I would just like to point out that failure to adhere to the rules and regulations will see your account not being activated and just deleted.

Now yes I understand this is restrictive, and I also understand that you might indeed think I won’t bother and even think rude thoughts when you are not activated.

But please think off this, I get a lot of people joining this forum, I check every one which takes a great deal of my time, if I never we would be inundated with spam, adverts, trolls, and other such idiots. I have to think of the greater good.

The BTS would like to keep this forum clean and productive, if this is a problem to you then please don't join! If you what to join then we are happy to have you here and joining is EASY! And we welcome you, hey why have a forum in the first place if this was not the case?

Just read the rules and regulations, your account will be activated in less than 24 hours.

You might think this is harsh, and to an extent I agree with you; however its keeps the BTS Forum clear of adverts for Viagra and other offensive material. Take it from me this is a well visited forum with over 1500 hits per day, this attracts a lot of people who do not what to talk tarantulas but just spread viruses, adverts for sex aids and other such material. So please help me to help you.

    I hope this explains things

    Very best regards
    Mark.

    Absolutely => very fast responses

But wouldn't it have been easier to put the above into a "Sticky"?
As a regular thread it might get "lost" ...
    Just a thought!

Perhaps, but some people tend to ignore sticky's. Therefore I vote we keep it bumped for a while

      ......hopefully the admins won't mind.

        sticky thread???

this may sound really stupid but what is the difference between a sticky thread and a normal thread,

A sticky thread doesn't drop down the thread list if theres no replies, where a normal thread drops down the list if there has been no new replies.

potential new user cant get on

A number of folk from this side of the pond are also users on this website. I have joined it very recently and did not find the process odious- however someone had told me that he received a message that no new users were being accepted, and it was dated sometime in 2008.

Unless he is trying to skip registration steps I cannot imagine what would be wrong unless this fine system is having temporary technical difficulties- or some kind of virus or user problem as I note you have had in the past (no public board is immune, I am sure).

Usually I am the first to create user error by failure to pay attention and skipping steps- if I can do it, I think anyone ought to be able to I cannot vouch for this person, if he is the problem- however if there is another one is there some info I could pass on?

There are no new users being accepted at present due to Admin being unavailable to process the applications...all normal service should resume towards the end of this month...this should have been explained in the email that was sent to the new applicant...
if this wasn't included then accept our appologies and pass on this info to the person if you could please Celeste, it would be appreciated

                    Just a quick note:
Just recently I have had a great deal of new users joining which is brillient - welcome everyone...

However, the rules are not being properly read by a small minority before joining.. Please read and understand these so I can activate you as fast as posible.

You must use your real full name, you are reminded of this all the way through registration - even the last button has this written in it. Plus you have to check a tick box to confirm this...

I dont like having to refuse people joining, its teadious for me and its clear quite a few have found it anoying enough to send be back rather abusive and quite frankly offensive emails of complaint.
Its not my fault, its yours OK... read and understand... dont complain to me becuase you cant be bothered to read or think they are there for fun, Then complian its my fault.

Also as a BTS member you can if you like use initials: BUT you must email me personally your membership number. Otherwise I have to call head office and check this takes time..

So help me to help you get on this forum as quickly and as painlessly as posible... The rules are there to keep the board clean and free of spam and flamers. Its friendly informational and has amazing resuorces for the hobbyist
we do it out of love, so you can love it and enjoy it... !

                    Regards
                    Mark
