Depends on size, stage an species of tarantula. A moult is 1 way. Try searching the species on net 4 pics of male and female.

Do T's not have the pedi palps of other spiders?

They do, but they only get the "boxing gloves" when mature. This one is a juvenile. I'm interested to see if anyone can sex it by the appearance of the epigastric furrow or the absence/presence of epiandrous fusillae

Why do you say that? Comparing this to other ventral pictures of Pokies, the upper book lungs in a male appear to be more horizontal and the females more angled downwards...........
