  • My Tegenaria's new house!

I got an old sweet jar and put my Tegenaria duellica in it. He seems to prefer being an arboreal!

    Hi Larry,

As the spider is a mature male, I would consider releasing it as it won't make a very good captive. Once males mature, they only have a few months to find and mate with as many females as possible before they die. A captive male will always be trying to escape and probably won't build any substanstial web as feeding is now a low priority.

Well, he has made a web and usually feeds great, but has been off his food of late-i just thought it was getting used to his new home. I knew male Ts live shorter lives but a few months for a Tegenaria! Theres a colony of these in my shed(where i got this chap from), maybe I should release him there. Been fun studying him tho,and watching him molt.
