Silly burrows

Just a tip for anyone getting a deep burrower. The tank I put my H. schmidti in only had 8 inches of substrate, so having dug down to the bottom it's extended the "burrow" upwards to incorperate a cork bark slab and one corner of the tank. The best bit is that the spider has dragged moss all the way to the top just to construct a burrow entrance, the it sits there expecting a cricket to walk past! I suppose it could catch them in mid hop!



If this one turns out to be a male I'm calling it Sauron!

You have a multi-tasking tarantula there Nicola. It's being both fossorial and arboreal at the same time.
