Lovely shots of some great Brachy's. i don't have a Brachy yet, its something I'll have to remedy later but its great to see the variety (even of the same species) in peoples collections. I'm rather taken with the Boehmi as I'm a lover of outrageous colour.
I saw some of the smallest slings I've ever seen on Thursday, Smithi's, about 5 of them about 3-4mm, amazing.

I think too many people poopoo brachys away!
Im not sure how many people are as mad as me for collecting them and love them regardless of the flicky nature
Some shots of my first breeding attempt here ok just a Brachypelma albopilosum But im happy with them

Moderators note: The BTS has a non-handling policy and does not encourage the handling of tarantulas, for the safety of the tarantula and the owner. We also understand that people have different opinions on this subject and from time to time handling may be necessary and /or accidental.
These images show the handling of nymph stage spiders and danger of invenomation is virtually impossible, the spiders themselves are technically safe so the images will remain due to cuteness factor

Will update later as really should take piccies again soon

            Nice photo's Shaz,

One thing though, the first photo under the heading Brachypelma angustum, looks very much like a B. verdezi (possibly B.schroederi) with the more coppery coloured carapace, i have a verdezi here and it's very similar to your image.
The boehmei is a very nice spider, my daughter has a 3cm baby just coming up to moult at the mo.

I am really tempted to get a klaasie, emilia or bohemi.

Since you have them all, this is the perfect opportunity to ask which you would recommend.

I'm not looking for a "docile" or "rock-imitating" spider so which out of those three do you reckon has got most "character" ?

Is there one that maybe flicks less hairs as I really don't want a hair flicker either lol.

              Great pics btw.

Im guessing you mean the top one the very old male?
He didnt always look like that he seemed to age as he got older, Not too sure how old he was but was mature male for 3 years at least and died a few weeks back im guessing just old age.
His colour/size/temperment doesnt match anything i have here for B Schroederi or verdezi although not yet had anyone of them reach MM on me so be good to see how that pans out colour wise
I do have a pic of him just before he died will try find it to show you he went almost a golden colour?

Also sorry for posting pics with them on my hands i dont normally handle anything less it runs up my arm, And wouldnt advise it was just them being tiny was easier to show size.

And to Tom Forman, Im still very much a newbie to T's only kept them a couple years so dont take what i say as 100%
But of the 3 you mentioned bohemi to me is the better of 3 i think?
Klaasi i tend to find are a very laid back spider when older and want to just sit somewhere and be left alone, b.emilia again pretty much same, although juvs tend to be very scatty.
Whereas the B.Bohemi tend to be a more in your face spider, they sit where you can see them and i just like them as they seem more full of it?
As for flicking i find B Smithi the worst of them all, the rest tends to be luck of the draw i think.
Its more the Individual spider that flicks rather than the species i have 12 B smithis and only 1 that doesn't flick, b.bohemi can be bad for flicking also i find?
But in all its more the spider, i spend lots of time in and out my T room so I'm not sure if they get used to me or movement around them?
But honestly i can say 85% of mine don't tend to flick when I'm just feeding or moving them for cleaning.

Will add though i have a very bad reaction the hairs, my skin is now at stage it cracks and bleeds when I'm near them.
Not too great when its something i like but i wont be beaten

If i was going to pick my fav Brachy to tell someone to get it would be the Brachypelma Schroederi, They might not be so colourful but to me these are the best of them all.

You know, i thought this as i posted, but it looked in that nice a condition that i didn't mention it.
Thats a good age for a mature male, did you mate from him or leave him to live out his life in comfort.

No problems, like i say handling policy for the little teenies was, in this case, overridden by cuteness factor . thanks for posting this and understanding the rules though.

                  Regards

I did mate him, All went well, seem placid enough on breeding.
                    Female moulted after 5 months
So tried again but poor old Mark (yes everything is named here haha) didnt have as much go that time so although females mated now what 4 months i think im not hopeful.
Just got my 2nd female mated by a younger male so really holding out on that one.
Lots mated this year which is good just hope i get to see some lil legs this year lol

Lovely Spiddys but STILL they would be better living with me haha do you have a male Brachypelma Boehmie?
I just lost a MM but might have another younger male up there otherwise, Will have to check!
