My A Avic has started doing this when she comes out of her web at night, she'll clean most of the lower legs and then have a wander looking for food.
I've also noticed her "clean" a few feet before returning to the web
The strangest thing i've seen her do is vibrate her whole body very rapidly for half a second or so just after she's had a splash around in her water, i should imagine for the same reason as a dog shakes after a bath.

Avicularia with a foot in her mouth
I was watching my A. avecularia on the side of her tank today when I noticed this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV1ExKro73w
She appears to put her foot in her "mouth" using her fangs to pull it in.
While carrying out observational work on my project spiders I have noticed them dragging each of their legs through their mouths in turn. This is what I saw today.
Apologies for the shoddy camera work, it was shot on a camera-phone with a macro lens. Oh and there is no sound.
