  • Black & yellow argiope (Argiope aurantia) and other arachnids

Black & yellow argiope (Argiope aurantia).

I took these picks when I was living at a friends in Alabaster, Alabama. She was on the window until she laid her eggs then left them.

    Gravid

    After laying.

Another couple of huge garden spiders out the back of Ashes Bar,Warrensburg, NY. They dinna look very big on the pics, mainly cause I was keeping my distance, lol, but they were the biggest garden spiders I have seen, the female was huge, you can see the comparison to the thickness of the rope lights and cable.

    Male, legspan about 2 1/2"

    Female, abdomen diameter about 1"

I nearly stood on this one out the back door in Alabama. Its about 1".
