They can sometimes take weeks to start webbing, so don't worry too much about it

She should still eat without a web. They don't use their web to capture prey, as such.

                  Yes moths are good.

One of the problems of collecting your own food is that you always have the risk of introducing some parasite or unwelcome guest.

Although one of the benefits of using wild caught ( live ) foods is that they are full with naturally acquired minerals an vitamins.

You will have to be careful however that you do not catch the food in areas where fertilisers or pesticides are used.

                  Hope this helps you,
                  Dan

                      hi
i've had mine a while now and mine still has'nt webbed she mostly sits at the top of a lump of bark or on the mesh bit of her viv but i've noticed she's more active since i swopped to thick layer of vermiculite and capped off with chip bark..
wat i did notice other day which freaked me out was i went in room and put light on to see her face down in her water bowl, as you can imagine i ran over, lifted lid sharpish cos i thort she was dead. which she was'nt too impressed about coe she freaked out big style..
i was a bit strange to see a T upside down with it's head in a water bowl..

just thort i'd share that with you....

                        Hi Simon.

12" high is good enough, give her a piece of Bamboo tube or cork bark tube around 3" diameter to hide in, she will start to web this up no probs (or rehouse her into a 5L cerial container).

Heating and lighting should be supplied by a light bulb overhead which is on for 12 hours of for 12 hours, this gives the night time drop for keeping Avics and the humidity rise in the evening.

I used 3 foot wide heated cabinets for all my Avics and Psalmopoeus (and Tapinauchinus) with no other heating than a 2 foor strip light (with power unit) for heating and mine were fine. I realise you might not be able to do this, but for me it was the best way to get the job done.

leave her alone for a few weeks, with the tube the crickets will crawl up it and the spid will get the food, also at 2" a moult is probably due so i would live the spid alone (with her tube) and not feed her but give her a water dish she can get to, and see what happens.

                        Ray

thanks Ray I have been using a heat mat to heat the tank I have a humidity moniter and it says about 85% humidity most of the time should I scrap the heat mat and use a light??? she is in a light room all day and its dark at night so would that be sufficient with the mat??

The mat should be fine if you switchit of at night.

The problem arises with winter and colder nights, you would really need to have the mat on a stat set at around 74C for the winter night time drop.

The good thing about cabinets (one of the good things ) is that they hold thier heat.

Ventilation is the next concern, Avics like good ventilation, depending on what youare using as a lid for the tank we can work out how to ventialte the enclosere.

Humidity should be low during the day and higher at night, this is achieved by lowering the temperature at night time, thus the heating is switched off.

So next questions what is the lid (or if the tank is on its end) the open side made off?

                            Ray
