  • yet another question????

I seem to have asked alot of questions recently and am grateful for everyones help, I have now purchased another tank for my pink toed T it is a normal tank turned on its end, I was wondering where I should stick the heat mat on this tank, there will be 3-4 inches of vermiculite and the tank is a further 14 inches so the T will be at the top of the tank????

Hi Simon, I would personally go with what you've lready said & stick the mat to one of the verticl edges of your tank, either the back or one side whichever is easiest for you.

I would also cover the mat with a layer of polystyrene to prevent heat loss through the back of the mat & it is always recommended to control the mat with a thermostat to prevent overheating.

      Hope this helps.

      Mike.

I've always put a polystyrene sheet over the outside, never cracked a tank yet.

I've just done exactly the same thing for my pink toe, i'll post some pics later on when i've moved her over into it

very nice looking home Its only a thought but it would look even nicer with a plant in. ( plastic is what i use ) it just adds that ''tropical'' feel to the tank And at least with plasic you dont have to worry about watering it as well!! :P

The wood is bogwood, very dense and hard, it's normally used in fishtanks and as a fishkeeper as well i've loads of bits kicking round.

These hexagonal tanks come up a lot on ebay, that's where this one came from, i've a second identicle one ready to modify the same as this one.
