  • Hi All

    Hey Guys.

I have just stumbled across the BTS and the forums and thought I'd join up.

I have been keeping spiders for just over a month now, and I already have 5! There very fascinating creatures as pets! A mate of mine who keeps spiders got me into them after he bought a White knee and a Pinktoe. I'm 24 years old abd from Bridgnorth in Shropshire.

    I have 4 slings and 1 'bigger' T.

    2 A. avicularia
    1 B. boehmei
    1 A. seemani
    1 G. rosea

All my spiders I have got from The Holybush garden centre in Cannock.

I am thinking about getting a B.smithi sling too!

The rosea is no longer on bark after I was told it was no good for her. so shes on peath now like the rest of them.

Anyway thats me, and my spiders

      Hi Kain
Seems you have been in the spider business as long as me and look how many I have 'acquired' now!

I find it such amazing fun to look after them all, it fascinates me!

Anyway, welcome to the boards - everybody here is amazingly friendly and there's loads of advice and support to be had, they are a good lot here!

Have posted some pics of mine on the Pix section...

There are some nice pictures there, love the little A Avic.
Welcome to one of the most addictive hobbies in the world, and as Johanna has said there's a huge amount of people on this forum that can offer advice.

And another welcome from another newbie, I've been keeping T since Christmas and seem to have aquired a few since then. Although this last week Johanna has now MORE than me!!! Although this weekend Im hoping to get a Lasiodora parahybana a 4 more A. geniculata slings.

I was admiring the pics of the Avic on arachnoboards.com I would really like an arboreal species.

I am another 'NOOB' who stumbled across this forum by chance. I only have 2 T's at the min but can certainly state that keeping T's is so addictive!

I feel like i collect paninni football stickers when i go to pet shops...Got, Got, Want, Want , Want! (if you get what i mean!)

              Hi Mike
I can quite wholeheartedly recommend A. Avicularia for your first. I think they're underestimated by a lot of keepers (might have a few replies to the contrary there eh?)
now that mines out and about a lot more i've become almost addictive in watching her(?) and she's looking to be more and more my favourite.

Howdy, I'm new too, just received a surprise today, see my other thread P. Murinis!

Folk here seem to be really knowledgable and helpful to boot, not one nose so much as acutely angled lol
All those legs and not a pair of shoes in sight... Nice tarsus tho...

                  Thanks for the welcome guys.

I think spiders are great little creatures. The little Pinktoes is as cute as any hamster I have seen. I'm 6'5 and built like a tank, and I go all googly over his cute little feet!

Oh forgot to add, I will be going to the spider show in May too

All us spider geeks can compare 'cute baby spider' stories! lmao!

The greenbottle blue? Funnily enough that was one I was lingering on!!

Whenever I log on to the spider shop I always check to see whether the total number of spiders for sale has increased - then I get excited and start trawling through the listings to see what I haven't seen on there before and what takes my fancy!!
There were one or two I quite fancied - although I also like the idea of the Cyriopagopus sp "Blue"
Singapore Blue adult, just not sure I want to spend that much on one spider!

Still, think I will wait till i get to the exhibition instead (if I can hold out that long!!?? It's going to be a tough one!!)

OMG, just made the mistake of having another look at them, and the larger image.....mmmm

                          Singapore Blue adult,
That is an incredible looking spider, but probably out of my price range for now. But thats no bad thing!!!
Im going to pick up a Lasiodora parahybana tomorrow night. So that may be the only new T this week, but dont hold me to that. I still want a A. versicolor but cant find one any where.
