thanks for the answers. i can't tell you how fascinating this is to me...i love exceptions in nature, and this seems to be a major one!

              Hi all,

There could well be any opportunity soon as I am prepared to distribute to a few to responsible owners who have the time and space to look after and breed these creatures.

              here are some more pictures

Oh ewls! I wonder how commoin this spider is in the hobby- we need more captive breds and less WCs.

                    Hi Abi,

I keep them in a huge 4x2x2ft tank with a giant burrow just like in the wild. They use every inch proactively. Ideal anyone that kept them would give them the same space.

ive just built a viv of those dimensions a couple of weeks ago, which i was setting up as a study enclosure, its even got an IR camera so i can record the activitys that go on in the night.

i hope i can have some slings from you as they would be absolutely amazing to study.

I think there will be a waiting list for these spiders...

Either way I'd still love some.

I wonder if in the future these will become readily available in the hobby?

                        Awesome pics by the way.
All those legs and not a pair of shoes in sight... Nice tarsus tho...

a very interesting and beautiful species you got there Craig. I would ussually expect a Tarantula to eat all the others in it's cage but for once there seems to be an exception.
"If you play with fire you'll get burned". Well I keep tarantulas so does that mean I'm going to get bitten even if I'm ultra-super-careful?

                          Short Answer: Yes (I have)(twice!!)(off a G.Rosea!!)

I am sure you will see these species readily available in a few years, but hopefully we can educate about their requirements before people start sticking them in a typical 12x12in tank. They need to be socialable and need a lot of space.

Glad you like the pictures, should have some more next week.

                              Cheers,
                              Craig

Well, in this case it seems to benefit them, similar to poecilotheria but one step further. I guess they can take larger prey if there are more of them. If a small boa came along, I wouldn't put it past them to have a go. They are opportunists and would make a fearce gang if in a large enough pack.

                                Regards
