The guy probably died due to tetanus / blood poisoning / wound infection more than likely, those hospitals in the secluded areas are (unfortunately) far from sterile and i'll bet the bloke didn't go there straight away leaving the wound to become infected.

Like you say the media make a circus of these matters.

I once heard that more people worldwide are kicked to death by donkeys each year than die directly of an encounter with a venomous animal.
Shall we get the media to label donkey ownership part of the DWA ruling

You nearly killed me there Col, my cuppa tea is now all up the screen, wall and stuck in my nose. There's a terrible mess and I still can't stop laughing.

Bees kill shed loads every year, but they are not on DWA!...
Dogs kill shed loads every week - again not on DWA!

You get one person die from a allergic reaction from a theraphosid real or not they'll be on DWA in a week! go figure.

Pockys have been on proposal for years, as they say they killed loads in India but it can't be proven so they won't put them on.

Even if they try it we have full accounts for bites here in the UK. So have no legal reason to add them.

Ahhh the nanny state, is truly bliss

Mind you I always thought there was something dangerous about donkeys, mind you it could be a traumatic experience as a kid on Weston sands coming back to haunt me.

Exactly, and (in my own opinion) a certain percentage of the facts will be fabricated or exagerated to fortify the proposal to add them to DWA, just so the "Governing body" (i use that term loosely) has a tighter hold of what we, the hobbyist, can and cannot keep or study.

The interesting thing about the donkey theory (hype or not) was that the term "venomous animal" included everything...including bees !!.
The highest percentage of the whole was deaths in Mexico.
