within a couple of days she had fallen in love with it and took over feeding / cleaning duties, it lived out the rest of its days ( turned out to be male) being pampered and the centre of attention

thats fantastic news well done on convincing your mum
Once you have your first one then the real fun begins. One turns into two,
two turns into three etc etc

You could point out that your spider is lonely and needs a friend in a couple of months te-he

All the best for now and don't forget some pictures when he/she has arrived

Congrats on getting the go ahead Richard.

I have to ask, are you getting a confirmed female from a breeder? At the current exchange rate, you are paying about $60.00 US for this T. I bought mine from a pet store a year ago for $25.00 US. I admit, I lucked out and got a girl (who, amazingly hasn't laid a sac), but the price you are paying just seems a bit high to me.

Then again, I don't know the availability of rosea in the UK. I suppose that could explain it.

        Just a thought.

hmm i assumed he meant £30 for the T and everything else...even my local over-priced shop sells them for £20. in fact, i got my two (then) juvies for £15 for the pair...
and of course internet and show prices can be even lower.
getting a tub from Woolworth's as a tank is only a pound or so...
rosea's are stupidly cheep here...and most are wild caught. kind of bad!
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars... Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

That would certainly seem much more reasonable, as far as price. My price was the T alone, and as I already had a tank / strate / etc, that was the only cost for me.

Of my 3, only one is WC, the other two are small CB slings that were gifts.

A kind of silly question. On an American keyboard, what would I use for the UK currency symbol? All I have is $, which won't work at all. Would I just have to spell it out?

              Pam,
You either have to copy and paste someone elses, or you can type your response in MS word and use 'insert symbol' to get the £ symbol, then paste your response in. I don't know another way to do it, but both those are easy-peasy.

you can say quid, as in 30 quid, or even squid, which is the slang hehe

You could use Quid (we'll know what you mean) or GBP (Great Britain Pounds)

The technical way is to access the "Charactor map" (start - programs - accessories - system tools)
Highlight any symbol in the "map" and use the "select - copy" function to copy to clipboard. Than just paste it into any document.

Go into your control panels, find DATE, TIME, LANGUAGE (Regional settings), select REGIONAL OPTIONS, select ENGLISH (UK), click ADD, select ENGLISH (UK) in the language dropdown and layout dropdown. Click OK. You may need to reboot your PC for it to work but you'll have access to £ which you should find by selecting SHIFT 3.

If you don't have the £ anywhere on your keyboard (it is shift 3 on ours) you can always just follow the amount with GBP for Great Britsh Pound (as apposed to USD for US dollars I mean)

Sometimes this doesn't work on a US 122-key keyboard Peter.
Had loads of trouble when a US company moved all their hardware to the UK (easier than recreating databases and seting up the networking at the time for 42 PC's)
We ended up giving them all 104's (US and UK versions)

EDIT: Sorry people - I hadn't seen all your posts in reply to Pam's question. I find it stupid though that US keyboards have no £ sign!

Pam - thank you very much.

To answer all the questions raised here; yes, it is EVERYTHING, not just the T.. Let me explain in detail with a list -

                          £2 Spiderling Chilean Rosea from thespidershop.co.uk (+ p&p)
                          £3 Crickets (x40 approx.)
                          £9 Cricket Tank
                          £6 Substrate
£2 Decor (for when the spiderling moves into it's tank, which I already have)
And then A.O. expenses which may pop up.

James, you mentioned buying a tank from Woolworths - would that be big enough to accomadate 40 crickets? For £1, it seems a bit bizzare - but if it you say it is, then I may have a look tommorow!

BTW Pam, I have no idea about its sex - I'll just get whatever they send me! lol!

                          Thanks everyone,

                          Rich
