I just measured my GBB he/she is on the side of the tank with its legs together, must be asleep, anyway, her carapace and her abdomen together measure one inch. ( I can't work in metric sorry). The abdomen is'nt bright orange, more of a dull orange but I can see slightly thicker webbing (although not proper hammock shape) so maybe its getting ready to moult in the next few weeks. Last time it was three weeks in the hammock before the moult. Its my B.smithi I am itching to see moult, I've had it three months today and its still as puny as the day I had it LOL.

Thanks Patsy, yep she's come through the molt fine, still under her webbing but in a different place to where she was when I found her this morning. The moult is looking smaller than her, her legs have a more blue appearance but I'll leave it a bit longer before I go prying. I promised I'd set up the 30x30x30 Exo for her once she moulted so I guess that will start over the weekend and then I'll drop her old enclosure into her new one. She could be over 2" now so the Exo is a little big but I have designs in my head for a nice web burrow. I'll see how things progress and add pix.

That's great Peter that she came through her moult ok. Its exciting to see how different they look afterwards is'nt it? Also I like it when I can make a new home for one too, laying it all out so it looks good and nice for the spider too. I was fascinated last night watching my GBB actually stalking her food again. She crept up sooooo slowly, just like a cat stalking a mouse or something, one leg at a time until she got to the leaves that the cricket was hiding under and then she couldn't get to it because one leaf was too close to the ground so she turned round and went round the plant in the opposite direction until she came to the cricket and pounced on it from behind. Was that shear luck she did that or maybe she knew she could get it from another direction? To me it was like she worked it out herself!

Sounds fascinating Patsy. I haven't managed to see that much action but she's always been in a small tub - the Ferrero Rocher I mentioned in these forums. The webbing is an art form though and considering I decided not to go for this species because it webbed up so much its funny to think now its part of the joy of having one. The colours and the change each moult is a convincing factor for any hobbyist and I'm looking forward to seeing "flossy" in her adult moult, though at mo she's a long way off that.
