Given the obvious fan club we have going here I thought you might enjoy this.
TO be read in the style of Pam Ayres.
The Tarantula Keeper's Lament
I’ve been keeping spiders since I was 12 years old, I’ve kept em’ live….I’ve kept em’ dead.
I’ve kept em’ hot……………..and cold!
I’ve bred em’ fed em and watched em’ grow
I’ve held em’ in my hand and there’s no better feeling
It really is quite grand.
My mother she weren’t keen at first, it really must be said
My very first tarantula went right to her head.
She told me it was ugly and surely it must go.
So I hid it in the wardrobe so she might never know.
The years went by, we both grew old, my mother passed away
But I’ve still got my Chile Rose, here with me today.
I think she learnt to love them, she often told me so
She would take it to the old folk’s home and pretend to let it go.
So has you set out on your way, remember my old mum
If she could learn to love them …so can anyone.
