I used to know someone who used to have this wierd fantasy about tarantulas. I just talk to mine!!!
I wonder if the BBC are going to be so ashamed about that poor rosea that they do a documentary b(or a mini series) on spiders of the world. Now that would get an audience ( "What a BLUE spider??")

I giggled at first as this little calm T was terrifying a stupid fat cabbie, while mine were at the time sat there doing the grand total of nothing whatsoever and not caring, but I did feel a little red mist. Supposedly it turned out that it didn;t even bite him, that he was just so scared that he had palpitations and collapsed, so at least they didn;t totally imply it was deadly.

I thought they could have at least used a spider that looks very similar to a deadly one, but was in fact as harmless as a T, there are plenty of imposter spiders out there that could have pulled it off convincingly after all, and I wouldn't have minded. Plus what are the chances of an adult bulky female T surviving the trip whilst rattling around with thousands of bananas.

Also why couldn't it have been Ian Beale. I hate that muppet.

still, a shame to badmouth spiders.
the good thing, i suppose, is that if someone mentions it, we can educate them on the subject.
so in that sense, this show's actually done us a backhanded favour.

i doubt emailing/ letters will make much difference.
be luck to get the standard reply letter 'thank you for your letter regarding
blah blah tarantula blah blah acting etc......'

the letter/emails will be then stored in the 'we dont care wot you tree-huggers
think, we get great ratings' file.

such is life with crap TV.!!

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning thats as good as their going to feel all day.

now that is a great point. well done for that.
              totally agree.

(but even the word 'eastenders' makes me want to slit my wrists
i always stay away from any convo with this topic)

Dee, i'm with you...soaps are horrible...and chavvy soaps are even worse!

for quality British telly, give me Alan Partridge or The Office any day.

                        quick update.... reply from bbc

I am sorry to note that you felt the storyline featuring a tarantula
was poorly researched and that it may result in bad publicity for
tarantulas who are normally very docile creatures.

We appreciate that even the most minor deviation from accuracy can be
irritating to some viewers (particularly those with experience of the
subjects or creatures featured) but there are constraints which mean that
we cannot or do not always want to keep as closely to the level of
detail that some viewers would like us to. Drama productions are not
always best served by meticulous attention to detail and a certain amount of
dramatic licence can be involved in trying to capture the essence of a
subject and then conveying this to an audience. This is particularly
true in a programme like 'EastEnders' which has a well established
history and tone, often featuring hyper real situations or playing on
popular clichés and misconceptions when formulating scenarios for its
                        fictional characters.

I appreciate that you may continue to take a different view and would
like to assure you that we have registered your comments on our audience
log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we compile
daily for all programme makers and commissioning executives within the
BBC, and also their senior management. It ensures that your points,
and all other comments we receive, are circulated and considered across
                        the BBC.

Thank you again for contacting the BBC.

I got roughly same reply as Jason did. Only in mine they said they had a handler from a 'specialist firm' on set at all times.

SO WHY DID THE SPECIALIST HANDLER LET THEM DROP IT TO THE FLOOR???

I get the distinct impression of being told to politly go away! Not that I expected anything else from the BBC tbh. They charge us for a license and put rubbish on 99% of the time! Says it all really dont it?
