but thats just the genus, sp stands for species(i think???). i must admit the pet shop named it a vietnam black but that could be a , longipes or a vonworthi. iv'e known of both to be called the Haplopelma sp vietnam (confusing i know). to honest i think am going to have to send the shed away, or wait for someone who really knows their stuff on haplopelmas, to see this post!!!I'm a leg man myself, the more legs the better!

Read through this article Steve -
it says -
In his paper G. Schmidt (Schmidt G. (2005): Haplopelma vonwirthi sp. n., eine neue Art der Haplopelma minax- Gruppe aus Sudostasien (Araneae: Theraphosidae: Ornithoctoninae). Tarantulas of the World. Ausgabe 103, Marz 2005: 4-12) describes the new species of the genus Haplopelma, known earlier in the hobby for some time as Haplopelma sp. "Vietnam" and named it after the one of the most remarkable modern taxonomist specialised in asian theraphosids - Volker von Wirth - Haplopelma vonwirthi
they are the same spider.

Thanks Steve. I had a good look at mine on Saturday night and to be honest Mine looks pretty much like yours except for the abdomen and that the body is jet black, not grey.Same markings though and I'm not going down its burrow to check out the spinnerets, I value my safety! So I haven't got a minax either! Still she is a beautiful little spider and I think the world of the little critter.Last edited by Nicola Dolby; 09-03-09, 09:05 AM.sigpicHate is for people who find thinking a little too complicated!
