    UM!!!!
That spider is not only not Brachypelma...it's not Grammostola either!
what you have there is in my humble opinion an obvious Phormictopus sp, probably cancerides, as that's what's often available.
they are variable in temperament but mine have always been feisty and quick to attack food or tweezers! not nasty, just...great feeding response!

i think the confusion here is that the common name for Phormictopus cancerides, while usually Haitian brown, is sometimes Haitian curly hair, or similar...and obviously, B albopilosum is known commonly as just curly hair!

watch your fingers, but congrats on a LOVELY specimen. the purple highlights on the carapace are quite obvious, gorgeous!

these are also a decent sized species, if i've got it right! and i think i do, i'd know them anywhere...and definitely NOT Grammostola or Brachypelma!

should add some care advice i suppose:
water her from time to time...feed her LOADS...
moderately warm?! these are hardy, mine have put up with alot from me, and do great. only had a few die, as slings, after transport through the post. seemingly invincible any other time!

Well, I am a newbie to BTS forums as you can see by my low post count. But I have been looking through the forum today, and reading through this thread I felt compelled to say THANK YOU Jim Box, your post here was extremely informative.
