  • M.balfouri Thread.

Hi everyone I'm wanting to hear about experiences everyone who has kept M.balfouri has had.

What kind of enclosure have you/do you keep them in?

What temp/humidity do you keep them at?

How hard are these to come by? Anyone got one for sale or heard anything about any coming soon?

Anything you find interesting about these please feel free to share.

If you could post photos of this species please do.

Does anyone else want one of these more then a P.metallica like me???

    Thanks guys!

Here's my female, keep her on the dry side. Not had her long but was told she was mega fast and mega aggressive but so far she has'nt even shown me a threat pose.

              Ian,

there is a 1 inch l/s sling on sale on RFUK for £130 i'm pretty sure this is way over priced though. i have seen these on sale a couple of times over the past 6 months and they seem to be higher priced than P.metallica.

they're rather pricey spiders still, sadly! that'll change when people get to breeding them.
there is an excellent article about them in one of the BTS journals, i'll try to find the number if i remember.
it suggests that the spiderlings do better when left with the mother for ...ages!

according to the article, they may be a more tolerant species because of the length of time the spiderlings remain with the mother. she also kills food for them but is careful not to accidentally kill her children.
                amazing!

good luck, Daniel...and i hope you can get a good deal on one, Ian!

Mine has grown at an average rate from a tiny sling to an adult female. I keep her exactly the same as my other T's and she webs so much that substrate etc don't really matter .
Again contrary to what I've heard, she has a very calm disposition and is quite beautiful all round!
