  • Show Loot!

Just come back from the show (would have stayed longer but I was with someone who was disabled)

Anyway was really nice day out, if a little stuffy in the halls. Had a great time walking around and talking to folks, though I have to say I have no idea who was who bar Mike from Hollybush.

Anyway I came home with 7!! new Ts.

    A Seemanni - About 3 inch (£5)
    B Smithi - About 2 inch (£12)
    P Irminia - About 1 inch (£2)
    A geniculata - About 1 inch (£5)
    P Regalis - About 2 inch (£7)
    Avic huriana - About 0.5 inch (£6)
    A chacoana - About 3 inch (£7.50)

    All in all brilliant.

The A chacoana had abit of a tantrum when transfering it to its tank, decided to dive out, run down my leg and onto the floor and dived under the sofa! He's in his tank now though safe and sound.

I went and bought an adult female P. regalis lol!!! Which I just working up to rehousing in a new Custom Aquaria arboreal viv....
I also bought some BTS merch, the pen and key fob and a mug.....

Ah, we should have done a show yourself thread before hand so we'd know if we bumped into a fellow forum member. I had printed my own T and part of it on the back said 'Its better than a Pokie in the eye'

I'm glad you both had a great day and got home safe and sound.

          Congratulations on the new T's.

Mike, I have only just stopped giggling at the escapade of the A. chacoana lol. Now that would have been a sight to see.

Just rehoused the lot and i'm about done in.

waited around for the presentations, (well done to all), some really nice spiders there, best scorpion was a nice specimen.

now to sit and teach all my adults about the birds and bees so i can have a table myself at the next show

Well I went along for my fourth visit and what a show!!!

I've noticed over the last few shows that certain species of tarantula seem to come into fashion and you can buy them by the hundreds. Last year it seemed to me to be Chromatopelma and Poecilotheria, this year Poecilotheria and Theraphosa....anyone else notice this or is it just me???

Unfortunatlely, my bug room is full. All except for one small space and I wanted to try something different....

I purchased myself an adult Scolopendra gigantea robusta for £45 and she is a beauty! There was a gorgeous black centipede for sale with bright red and blue legs, but I nearly fainted when I discovered the price...£120!!!
I also bought a pair of the BTS spider cufflinks so I will be the height of fashion when I go into the office on Monday!

                      I picked up
                      2 B smithi
                      2 H maculata
                      2 C fibriatus
                      a praying mantis
Would have got more but only stayed an hour as we had uni friends and went to the bull ring shopping centre. I was really proud one of my mates was terrified of spiders and came in with me to see if she could manage and she ended up coming out with a little B smithi for herself and she really wants some leaf insects now from what she saw.

There was alot of insects and stuff there (non spider) which I was surprised about. I thought it was just Spiders and Tarantulas.

I wanted a T blondi, there was a guy selling them for a tenner each but I missed them! Still always next year!

The only disappointing sight I saw, was a couple of kids buying there first Tarantula, and the guy serving suggested a Colbolt Blue, which I thought was abit naughty to be honest. I was going to say something, but being a noob myself, I didn't want to look a fool.

                          Hi Kain

Thats not the first time I've heard about people recommending Colbort blue as a first T. It's naughty cause they cetainly are not for beginners, even I wouldn't consider one of those for quite some time!!

Glad you enjoyed your day, I had a good day too, you will have to read my new thread to find out why.

                              For me ..

                              pokie poster
                              P. regalis
                              P. cambridgei
                              P. pederseni
                              P. lugardi.

All at the large sling type size except for the lugardi which although far from adult is a fairish size.

I'd like to take this chance to thank all the BTS committee and team involved in planning, setting up and running this event, IMO it was worth every minute of your time, i had a really enjoyable day.
