OK - let's see if we can help here:

The spider we are talking about here (i.e. the arboreal job from Malaysia with a tiger-striped abdomen) is called Cyriopagopus schioedtei.

When this species first entered the hobby it was 'incorrectly' ID'ed as Cyriopagopus thorelli. However, Volker von Wirth has confirmed that these specimens in captivity (which were originally sold as thorelli) are in fact Cyriopagopus schioedtei.

So to answer your question: it was a Cyriopagopus schioedtei he got.

      Hope that helps,
      Richard

I forgot, I also got 3 C fimbriatus slings free with my Pokie.

Mike! What are you like!?!? Nutter, make me laugh though! I thought it was brilliant that you handed over some pokies to me basically because you didn't get on very well with them, next time I bump into you you're carrying round that Regalis!! Glad you had a better experience with it though, just transfered mine now over the bath and all were like little quiet things! Bless 'em!

Oh, and thanks for my C, fimbratus too!

These larger pokies must be tough !!!!

And Colin, you better believe it! Lmao! They're called pokies coz you have to handle them with a big Pokie stick! lol!

          Right!

That clears things up, next question; is C Thorelli availablie in the hobby?

Sorry for taking the thread in a different direction, but what are the main differences between the Schioedti and Thorelli? I'm quite captivated with the Cyriopagopus sp after recently acquiring a C Schioedti 3" sling!
All those legs and not a pair of shoes in sight... Nice tarsus tho...

I went with a shopping list in my head and I managed to get most on it.

              1x Avicularia laeta
              2x Avicularia minatrix
              1x Chromatopelma cyanopubescens
              1x Grammostola actaeon
              2x Liocheles australasiae
              2x Damon sp.
              Mantids
              Phasmids
              Fruit beetles

Very few potential mates for my AF spiders, and no Euscorpius or solifugids (do the latter occasionally turn up at the BTS shows?), but I consoled myself with a Smeringurus mesaensis - how could I not? - and a Ceratogyrus marshalli.

I kept an eye out for name stickers, to see if I could put a face with some names. If I read them right, Ray Gabriel doesn't look half as frightening as I expected...
