I went with the intention of coming home with no spiders and came back with 15. Ray Gabriel and Andy Fisher have a lot to answer for.

The only disappointing sight I saw, was a couple of kids buying there first Tarantula, and the guy serving suggested a Colbolt Blue, which I thought was abit naughty to be honest. I was going to say something, but being a noob myself, I didn't want to look a fool.

i paid 20 for my T blondi. (juvie)
but as i wanted one so much i would have paid double. hehehe

Thats not the first time I've heard about people recommending Colbort blue as a first T. It's naughty cause they cetainly are not for beginners, even I wouldn't consider one of those for quite some time!!

Glad you enjoyed your day, I had a good day too, you will have to read my new thread to find out why.

i dont really think there is anything wrong with getting a colbolt
as a first tarantula. Apart from the fact that they arent a good
display spider. generally i find they run and hide rather than
stay and fight. i wasnt long in the hobby when i got my first
            h. lividum and i've never had any problems with her
but i suppose for kids a nice b smithi or g rosea
would be a better option esp if their parents arent in the hobby.!!

Well I was after Ephobopus Uataman but nothing doing there Thought the French guy<verdez>? or Thomas Vinman might of come up with the goods but no luck lol

Would really of liked some of Ray Gabriels Poecis .. he had some superb Sub adult female metallicas and some lovely Subfuscas .. just a wee bit out of my pocket money for the day though mores the pity ... And the divorce would of cost me more lol

Ray you will be sadly missed when you go mate, first time ive seen you for ages and unless you fly back occasionaly probably the last .. regardless best luck in your new adventure when you go

Anyway back to the spiders lol .. ended up with a Male and Female Theraphosa Apophysis off of T Vinman.. wanted something to have a go at breeding so why not go for the biggest !!

And last but not least thanks to all the BTS Staff for once again running and excellent show .. not that anything less was expected !!

Aint it always the way. Big thanks to Andy though giving c fimbriatus slings free with purchase very good idea. I might have been blind but I didnt see any A chalcode slings at the spidershop table were they all sold by time I arrived or none of them were brought to show?

Seriously!!?? Think it would be hard to fill the table with someone who always had great array and amount of Pokies, avics and arboreal in general at the show. Hopefully will save the pennies and buy a couple P metallica before then.

                      Well!....
Stuck the Navman in the car along with mi daughter and off we went. set off at 7:30 nice leasurly drive, arrived 10:15.
( those Navmans are great ).
Anyhow great day enjoyed every second. Thanks to all involved in organizing the event, your hard work paid off. Brilliant. Got myself a little lively B smithi about 3cm, a E campestratus and a G sp "Formosa". Don't know what that means, wanted a G pulchra but no luck. Lee says this one is very similar and takes the same looking after. Wanted a Lasiodora parahybana female but was unlucky there. Something to look forward to eh!. Oh! bought myself a badge too and a keyring. Those keyrings are smart. Must get a sew on badge now. Well must get on and rehouse mi beauts.

                      Regards.

It seems like eveyone had a good day at the show and I'm sorry I couldnt make it, but there's always next year. Congratulations to everyone who bought some Ts and stuff, I dont think I could trust myself with what sounds like so much choice. Keep looking for that Lasiodora parahybana female Harry, they are stunning as adults. I'm just sorry that I missed what sounds like a extremely good event.

I bought one of those BTS mugs as well.

Also got an adult female Pterinochilus chordatus (for £6!!) and a group of 4 Phyllium sp. leaf insects. I was particularly pleased with the excellent detailed advice given by the Phyllium seller. Having never kept leaf insects before this was extremely useful and exactly the kind of good sales service you want at a show - good on you!

                          Cheers,
                          Richard

Yep,top marks to the organisers, was my first one, and i could have spent all day walking, looking and listening. Only bought two, didnt buy what i intended, but got a lovely if not aggresive Euathlus Vulpinus, who certainlymade me a little worried when changing her to her new enclosure. And a T i wanted when i first became interested, a beautiful Haplopelma Lividum. Who also made me change my pants, when changing her over, she went in, then out along the skirting board, over towards my two year old, who thought it was "bloody great", then i managed to get her back to me, over my legs, and then back into her new enclosure. They look great, but after the heart attacks i,ve nearly had today, and the new change of clothes, i am now thinking of swapping everything for a nice quiet hamster.!

It sounds like you all had a fabulous day.

Congratulations on all your new T's and other bugs. I look forward to photo's.

Sitting here reading, I said a few "woohoo great choices" a number of "Oh boy that one sounds scary" and a couple of "awww how cool" and also a few good giggles lol.

I'm glad you all made it home safe and sound with your new charges.

Did any of you happen to see the M. balfouri that Lee at the Spider Shop had? Is it as gorgeous as the photo's I've seen?

Give me all your Avics !!!!!
